EMDR/Trauma

Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a more widely known therapy tool. When a person is traumatized, their processing system shuts down, so that they stay stuck in the trauma and the beliefs they have about themselves as a result of the trauma. Bilateral stimulation simply reactivates one's own processing system so that reprocessing and integration of the trauma can happen. I find EMDR especially useful to "install resources." The aim of therapy is always aimed at having clients know and be better able to access their own inner resources. However, the negative self and world beliefs with traumatized people are so deep that it's a slow and sometimes impossible process. EMDR bypasses the inner critic; allowing the positive beliefs, the sense of capacity and strength are able to supplant the previous sense of deficiency.

THE WELL

"The well from which water is drawn conveys the further idea of an inexhaustible dispensing of nourishment…We must go down to the foundations of life. For any merely superficial ordering of life that leaves its deepest needs unsatisfied is an ineffectual as if no attempt at order had ever been made."

"The generations come and go, and all enjoy life in its inexhaustible abundance."

"and every human being can draw in the course of his/her education from the inexhaustible wellspring of the divine in human nature."

"The water is there for nourishment and healing, if we can only draw it to the surface."

"The well is cleaned, but no one drinks from it. This is my heart's sorrow, for the well is there for all to be nourished."

Testimonials
“Patricia is just so great at what she does. I think she understands me better than I understand myself. By using IFS and the Enneagram she has helped me accept all of myself. I have stopped condemning parts of me that I have been battling for years. I have reached a level of personal acceptance that has enabled me to forgive myself, and consequently to forgive others. I function at a much higher level of energy and effectiveness since working with her.”

Robert Tallon, Co-author of From Awareness to Action.
